Thanks for stopping by. I’m Sarah, a fisheries biologist and native aquatic ecologist based in southwestern Utah. Aquatic species throughout the western United States face serious threats, and I'm passionate about conserving these enigmatic creatures and their imperiled ecosystems.
I'm a well-rounded natural resource professional with over 10 years of experience working for various land and wildlife management agencies. My professional and academic interests focus on native fish conservation and water policy in the arid West.
I'm a field biologist at heart, so I'm happiest wading through muck and catching fish in Utah's remote desert rivers. Still, I firmly believe that conservation biology doesn't exist in a vacuum, so I view natural resource management through a multidisciplinary lens. Understanding the complex relationships between a region's ecology, society, and economy leads to more robust conservation outcomes.
I currently work as a Native Aquatic Biologist for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources in southwestern Utah. I also recently graduated with a Master of Natural Resources degree through Oregon State University’s e-campus in March 2023.
